Creating advertising - research and ideas

Recently, in Digital Arts lessons, we discussed the topic of advertising. We were asked to make our own. However, to do it well, you need research. So what is advertising in the first place? It is information combined with a persuasive message. Usually, it aims to induce the purchase or use of certain goods or services, or to endorse certain causes or ideas.

Peculiar forms of advertising come from ancient times. At that time, advertisements were used in the form of inscriptions on the walls of buildings, stone or terracotta signs for an inn. Ancient traders shouted and praised the characteristics of their goods. This is how the first form of advertising in history was created - oral advertising. Written advertising appeared in ancient Greece. It had the character of written information about cultural and sports events. Gutenberg's invention of printing revolutionized advertising. The date of the invention of printing is considered to be the year 1450. The first newspapers appeared, with the first press advertisements in them.

Despite the fact that the advertisements are mainly intended to manipulate us, some of them seem really very ingenious. Their very idea seems really interesting. They can be divided into different types and models. I like perfume advertisements by far. Both the older and newer ones, because whenever I see them, I have the impression that I can smell a given perfume.

The first advertisement above the Chanel brand dates from 1957. The brand used a very bold advertising slogan "Every woman alive loves Chanel N ° 5". No questions, no doubts, no encouragement - a clear statement of the fact was enough for it to become true.

This advertisement is from 2011. It is very simple but also effective. It shows a chic woman holding a bottle of perfume that glow from the inside and illuminate her face like a lamp. This is, of course, a reference to the name of the perfume - Bright Crystal. It gives us the feeling that if we buy them, we will feel exclusive.

Here is an example of a very simple advertisement. The most important on it is the inscription "Open happiness", which gives a hint how we will feel after drinking the drink. It even makes us want to open the cola to be able to experience this described happiness and joy.

Finally, a very creative advert. At first glance, you can see a woman biting the bandage on it. You can also see the inscription saying "Smile with the strenght". All this is, of course, figurative and is to show the recipient that if he buys this paste, his glazes will be strong. It is also worth noting that the dominant color is turquoise, which can be associated with paste.

In summary, advertising can be performed in many different ways. They can be easy to perceive or the opposite. They don't always have to contain many details to catch the eye. I hope that when I create my own, I will be able to do it correctly.
